Chapter 348: 78th [Bonus]
It was as though he had just ingested a miracle drug capable of doing anything. But the underlying fact of the matter was quite simple.
This Permanent Template was able to take the essence of a beast and distill it all down into a single pill, all while keeping much of its strongest aspects.
\'Hm?\'
Sylas realized that there was something wrong and he immediately began to dispel the Aether that he was accumulating. This change dampened his mood a bit, but it also helped him to clear the fog of pleasure that was covering his mind.
The Aether that was being replenished just now was of an attribute that wasn\'t compatible with his Ice-Poison Aether. As such, after it reached a certain threshold, it actually began to make him feel more uncomfortable than not.
The Aether he replenished wasn\'t so convenient, unfortunately. It seemed that the attribute came from the beast in question.
Sylas could only sigh at this realization. His own Aether attribute should probably be quite rare. The odds of finding more Ice-Poison beasts to make use of were difficult.
\'I should also check with the Madness Key to see if there are any ill effects of these pills as well. If they\'re anything like Elixirs, it\'ll be a problem.\'
It seemed that good news and bad news came in pairs.
Although Sylas wasn\'t able to maximize the use of these beasts in particular, the Madness Key confirmed that there were no drawbacks to be aware of aside from consuming too many at once or consuming a beast that was too powerful.
The power of these pills concentrated the entire essence of a beast, so if the current Sylas absorbed a beast with a Silver Gene, he would probably explode.
However, so long as the pill was within a certain range, he could benefit from healing and a stamina boost all at once. And, if the Aether was compatible with him, then he could even replenish his Aether at the same time.
There were reasons why this wasn\'t more common, though.
Firstly, the methods were far too rare. Not just the Permanent Template, or even normal Templates, but Professions capable of this as well.
Second, they were perishable, much like the beasts they were formed from, unlike Elixirs. As such, selling them required the pills to be held in spatial devices. This made it more difficult to do on a large scale, especially since most people wouldn\'t even have spatial devices to begin with.
Third, what Sylas hadn\'t noticed because it had started to come naturally to him was that it took a level of control over your body that wasn\'t common.
Such a large amount of energy entering your body all at once in such a readily available form could easily overwhelm someone who wasn\'t ready.
When Sylas had ingested his, he had subconsciously begun to control his body because of two reasons: his experience with Extricate and his focus on maximizing his body control.
Extricate played the far larger role in this case, and that comprehension of where his Genes were present in his body and how they spread allowed him to direct the energy of the pills without harming himself.
However, without the experience that would come from Silver Genes, if Sylas tried the same -even if his body grew much more powerful-he would fail. There was a certain level of Gene Comprehension that was necessary in order to use these pills.
This was especially so if you were absorbing a Transmutated pill that had an attribute other than your own. That was when it was of the utmost danger.
That left the fourth and most important point: Time.
The pills had a lot of readily available energy, but that was part of the problem... there was a lot of readily available energy. In battle, if you consumed one, your entire body would be occupied with handling it. If you moved, tried to circulate your Aether, or anything of the sort, then you would disrupt the process and potentially even lead yourself down a path of backlash.
Elixirs, by comparison, were more easily consumable and gave far gentler effects over a longer period of time and wouldn\'t necessarily impede you in combat.
As such, Transmutated Pills were mostly used for training purposes or for a quick buff between battles. But Sylas didn\'t mind it. That was exactly what he needed it for as well.
He was already having trouble keeping up with his nutrition and sleep properly. At the very least, this would fix one of his issues and help him to improve much faster.
If he paired a State of Wealth with his intense body control training and sprinkled some of these Transmutated Pills on top, he would be able to quickly break free of his Stat Limits. This should also work for his Mental stats as well. It was just unfortunate that he didn\'t yet have a method of training his mind as effectively, but he would be sure to find one as quickly as possible.
This aside, Sylas already felt that he was back up to more than 50% after ingesting one dud pill and one Common one.
He injected the wasted Aether into a second round and finally managed to form a second Common Transmutated Pill. Only then was he back up to over 90%.
Feeling that he had spent enough time on this, Sylas began to spin again. But this time, it was even more worrying. He went over 50 spins, then over 60, then over 70, but he still didn\'t get
anything.
It wasn\'t until over 50 spins from his last cash-in that he managed to get a roll of something.
His 78th spin.
