Chapter 299: Demise Of A Reliable Comrade

Pressed for time, Shye switched targets, aiming his staff at the Goblin High Shaman as he fired basic spells with reckless abandon.

Unfortunately, the enormous serpent was under the darned shaman\'s control, swiftly slithering in front of its summoner to block Shye\'s spells.

\'This serpent is a huge problem…should I take it out first?\' He pondered, thinking of swapping back to warrior equipment as the Spirit Serpent could only be wounded by melee weapons. \'If I still had my fallen skills, I would at least have a chance to get close to this damn shaman…\'

His "Fallen" trump cards were still on cooldown for four minutes and there was no way Seira could hold on for that long.

He had to think of something.

Accidentally glancing at Seira as he tried to think of a solution, Shye\'s eyes widened upon witnessing Seira\'s impending demise.

The Goblin Chieftain\'s left arm was already in full punching motion, viciously parting the winds as a green aura covered its fists.

If Seira was hit, her cheekbones would surely cave in and she would most likely end up unconscious—ripe for reproductive purposes.

"SEIRA!!"

Nevertheless, contrary to Shye\'s expectation of witnessing a gruesome scene with Seira spinning in the air while spitting out a mixture of blood and teeth, nothing of the sort occurred.

Instead, the chieftain\'s arm simply passed through Seira, who was covered in a thin layer of bluish-transparent mana.

Then, shortly after, she sidestepped to the right, pivoted her left foot to face the brutish goblin, and swung her greatsword down with reckless abandon.

*SPURT!*

Empowered by the basic yet dependable [Power Slash Lv.4], a temporary spine-chilling crack sounded, followed by the sound of blood splattering across the ground.

Shockingly, Seira managed to not only hold her own but also sever the Goblin Chieftain\'s left arm, causing it to howl in agony.

Shye was utterly surprised, however, his killer instincts kicked in as soon as he saw the chance.

Swiftly using one of his mage gap closer skills, Shye used [Blink Lv.3] to reappear beside the Goblin Chieftain, surprising both Seira and the Goblin High Shaman, who swiftly realized his plans and ordered the Spirit Serpent to charge at him.

Unfortunately, how could a mere serpent be faster than the speed of sound?

A primal draconic roar echoed across the clearing, bringing fear into the hearts of everyone present, including Seira.

As for the Goblin Chieftain, who was the primary target of the skill, the unfortunate creature trembled, its eyes unfocused as it gripped its head and curled up on the ground.

"Seira! Help me finish this one off!"

Shye\'s urgent voice suddenly sounded beside Seira, forcefully bringing her back to reality.

Witnessing her boss\' attempt to slay the cowering Goblin Chieftain, Seira was compelled to help.

However, upon realizing that the Spirit Serpent was charging furiously towards Shye, hoping to at least kill him after he finished off the chieftain, a decisive and courageous gleam sparked in her eyes.

Boldly rushing in front of the serpent to divert its focus, Seira courageously lunged forward, feigning a reckless sword slash.

Seeing how fierce the young woman was, the serpent subconsciously changed its target, opting to eliminate Seira first.

With vicious intent, the serpent eerily slithered across the ground before suddenly diving towards Seira, its vicious mouth—wide open as it threatened to rip her apart with one vicious chomp.

Unfortunately, the spirit fangs simply passed through the young woman, who, having expended most of her meager mana reserves, collapsed onto one knee in exhaustion.

On the other hand, the Spirit Serpent violently plummeted to the ground, its fangs embedding into nothing but dirt.

*SPURT!*

Meanwhile, a green head the size of a human\'s flew across the air, leaking green blood as it disturbingly spun, landing and rolling on the ground fairly close to the Goblin High Shaman\'s right foot.

Witnessing the demise of its most reliable comrade and kin, pangs of loneliness struck the monstrous shaman\'s heart.

The two of them had huge dreams of establishing a goblin empire.

Unfortunately, due to these two loathsome humans, it was now alone—uncertain whether it should continue pursuing its dream or give up and return to its original settlement as a loser—a clown.

However, before determining its next course of action, the loathsome humans must first perish.

Slamming the foot of its makeshift wooden staff on the ground, a huge wooden totem suddenly rose from the ground, sending green pulses across the clearing and healing what little damage the Spirit Serpent took.

\'F*ck…is this the recovery totem skill?\' Shye inwardly cursed, not even having the time to celebrate after slaying what was supposedly one of the mission requirements.

Now, he had to slay this old goat with a huge-ass snake too.

He and Seira were already tired of fighting goblins. If not for the potions in his possession, even he would\'ve crumbled long ago.

Luckily, even though things were chaotic earlier, the two of them were able to open opportunities up for each other, resulting in the current favorable situation.

Still, "favorable" simply meant more favorable than their situation earlier where they were surrounded by more than a hundred goblins.

The Goblin High Shaman was no joke, especially the damned Spirit Serpent in front of them who just now turned unkillable due to the totem.

"Seira, you have some sort of skill that allows you to become invulnerable for a few moments, correct?"

"Yes, boss. What\'s the plan?"

"Alright then, listen up. You shall distract the Spirit Serpent while I attempt to destroy the totem."

" I see, okay, leave the snake to me!"

Promptly after saying her piece, Seira drank the mana potion given by Shye and courageously advanced, charging straight toward the enormous serpent without a hint of fear.

"Hey! You overgrown worm! I\'m your opponent!"
