Journey Towards Greatness

Chapter 1276: The Pancake Race (2)

Chapter 1276: The Pancake Race (2)

Seeing how lively the town has become, Julian can\'t waste his time here inside his hotel room, so he walks out and heads towards the place where the race will be held.

When Julian arrived at the designated spot, he saw a sea of people moving around visiting shops, and looking at the mini concert that is being held right now.

Julian also saw trainers put the last bit of effort into their pokemons as these pokemons try their best to balance those pancakes.

Julian blends into the crowd and looks around to see how people are preparing for the race. He wants to hear people\'s strategies and how they are approaching this race, but after a few minutes. He gave up with a long sigh because most of them really didn\'t have any strategy.

All of them seem to be relying on their pokemon\'s speed instead of coming up with a strategy. As Julian makes his way through the crowd, his eyes fall on a particular group of mischievous people.

And this group is none other than the very unlucky team rocket trio. Julian was surprised to see them as he didn\'t expect them to be here as well, but then he remembered that they were destined to get their ass handed by Ash and his friends every time.

At this point, he just feels very bad for them. He knows how much they suffered at the hands of Ash and his friends, but they still try it again and again.

Julian is just surprised by their dedication, even after so many failures. If it was anyone else, they would have already given up but these three still keep going.

Julian gets close to them and sees a big Bewear next to them, but when he sees it carefully, he realizes that the Bewear is a robot.

Julian \'Are they going to use this thing to cheat?\'

Julian thought as he inspects the Bewear robot, but he decides not to do anything. With how their luck is, no matter how good this robot is, their bad luck will lead to their own downfall.

Julian just needs to be in the race and win it.

A few hours passed, and the race was about to start and Julian was already in the front lines waiting for the signal. The word of his participation in the race has spread.

Even though people of Alola don\'t know much about him, some of them have heard of him and they are excited to see him participate in one of Alola\'s holiday events.

Julian stood at the starting line with a wooden cart and on this cart was Wimpod and on top of Wimpod is a stack of pancakes.

With every racer already in front of the starting line, and the event announcer ready on her podium, the race finally started with the flare gun going off.

Julian grabbed the handle of the wooden cart and started to run. He didn\'t bolt away like others, as he didn\'t want the pancake stack to fall.

He already witnessed a few racers drop their pancake stack because they put too much energy into their start-up sprint.

Julian knew this would happen, so his startup was slower than others. His Wimpod also didn\'t have anything to hold on to that pancake stack, so Julian had to be careful at the start.

As Julian runs forward, he increases his speed while also staying right in front of the pancake stack so that the air passing him doesn\'t hit the stack.

With his speed, Julian soon started to pass other trainers easily, and it didn\'t take him long to reach the second half of the race. Being the first one there made people cheer for him.

Even people who didn\'t know him cheered for him, instead of cheering for the favorite, the last year\'s pancake race winner.

Now that he is in the second half of the race, he is no longer needed. He picks up the pancake stack and places it on top of Wimpod.

Wimpod stands as steady as possible and lets the wobble on the pancake stack calm down before making a run.

Wimpod looks steady and fast and it looks like he is going to with. His speed started to build up faster and faster, which led to him leaving every other pokemon to dust.

During the race, just like Julian had predicted, Team Rocket met with an unfortunate accident, but Julian saw something that completely surprised him.

The Bewear that he encountered in the forest came out of nowhere and took away Team Rocket.

The rest of the race was very exciting. Wimpod won it by a mile, but the position for second place was very close. Ash\'s Pikachu and the former champion\'s Alolan Raichu were neck and neck but because of the botch that the robot Bewear of team rocket created, it messed up the whole race and the second place went to the sleeping Komala who belongs to Principal Oak.

This surprised everyone but it was a very finning ending, and people loved it.

Julian got a card from which he can buy a year\'s worth of pancake supplies for free. Even though he doesn\'t need it, it is very useful, so he kept it.

And since Wimpod won this pancake race, Julian treated him with the most delicious pancakes he could make.
