Chapter 5522 Sword Dao’s Gate

Chapter 5522 Sword Dao’s Gate

Both Long Chen and Yue Zifeng were taken aback. With Yue Zifeng’s unparalleled mastery, had he only just touched the gate to the Sword Dao? If anyone else had said such a thing, they might have thought it an insult.

With her calm and unwavering voice, Feng Xinyue said, “In ancient times, the Sword God shocked the heavens and the earth with his unparalleled sword. Gods and devils alike were suppressed under its edge. His blade was hailed as the strongest among the nine heavens and ten lands.

“The Sword God was a solitary figure, one who took no disciples and left behind no direct legacy. Yet, his loyalty and heart were unmatched. On the battlefield, at the brink of death, he merged his Sword Dao will into his blade. His divine sword then shattered, scattering its fragments throughout the world. Its radiant light illuminated the nine heavens and ten lands. Before his death, he seized the power of the heavens, controlled the karma of the universe, and forged the gate to the Sword Dao. Though your will is firm and your Dao-heart resolute, you still wander outside this gate.”

Yue Zifeng’s heart trembled. Reverently, he asked, “Senior, what exactly is this gate?”

For Yue Zifeng, who had dedicated his life to the Sword Dao, Feng Xinyue’s words were a heavy blow. If even he stood outside this gate, who in this world could possibly enter?

Feng Xinyue shook her head. “I don’t know much about the Sword God’s line. You are making it hard on me if you want me to explain what this gate is. However, based on what I know, from ancient times until now, only one person has ever entered the gate to the Sword Dao.”

“The Sword God himself,” Yue Zifeng murmured, his expression filled with awe.

Yue Zifeng had always had confidence in himself, so there were only two figures he revered deeply. One was Long Chen, a leader he would follow to the ends of the earth. The other was the Sword God—a supreme existence he regarded as his master.

Hearing that only the Sword God had ever entered this gate, Yue Zifeng couldn’t help but feel humbled.

“Is this why he became a god?” asked Long Chen.

Feng Xinyue nodded. “However, he only became a god after his death.”

“What?” The trio—Long Chen, Tang Wan-er, and Yue Zifeng—exchanged bewildered looks.

Feng Xinyue chuckled softly. “The Sword God’s aloofness is beyond your imagination. In his era, he swept through the nine heavens and ten lands, unchallenged. Gods, Emperors, Sovereigns—none were worth his regard. There was only one person he truly respected.

“Because of this, he never intended to leave behind a legacy. No one of his time was worthy of inheriting it. Yet, at the moment of his death, perhaps he foresaw a distant future. He changed his mind, merging his soul and will into his sword and scattering it throughout the world. His blessing has since filled the nine heavens and ten lands. Though his legacy was never formalized, it has endured through his scattered fragments. And you, Yue Zifeng, are one of those blessed.”

Yue Zifeng was stunned. This was the first time he had heard the full extent of the Sword God’s legend. Before he could ask further questions, Feng Xinyue raised her hand. “Some matters are not to be asked.”

Although she spoke calmly, her tone carried an undeniable resolve. Hence, Yue Zifeng swallowed his questions. Long Chen and Tang Wan-er, however, could guess his thoughts. He wanted to know how such a peerless figure had met his end—and who the one person he respected was.

Feng Xinyue’s silence hinted that she might know the answers, but even she couldn’t speak of them.

Long Chen broke the tension. “Senior, what about the High Heaven Sword God Sect we encountered? They claim their ancestor was the High Heaven Sword God. Do you know of him?”

Feng Xinyue’s expression darkened slightly, and she explained, “Ah, yes. When the Sword God’s divine sword shattered, its fragments scattered across the world. One of these fell into the hands of an opportunist, and he thought he had received the full legacy of the Sword God.

“This man was from the same era as the Sword God, and he sought to become the Sword God’s disciple countless times. However, the Sword God dismissed him for his lack of aptitude and flawed character. Holding a grudge because of this, he slandered the Sword God behind his back but never dared to confront him openly.

“After the Sword God’s death, I don’t know where he got this dogshit luck from, but he found a fragment of the divine sword. Sensing the Sword God’s will from it, he had a sudden breakthrough. His Sword Dao advanced rapidly, propelling him into the ranks of peak experts. Feeling emboldened, he proclaimed himself the High Heaven Sword God and founded the High Heaven Sword God Sect.

“However, because he called himself the new Sword God right after the Sword God’s death, it was like he was trying to replace the Sword God, which drew the ire of countless worshipers of the Sword God. Due to his slander toward the Sword God, his High Heaven Sword God Sect was targeted.

“While the High Heaven fellow was powerful, many worshippers of the Sword God—while unable to inherit the Sword God’s legacy—were formidable in their own right. They slaughtered the High Heaven Sword God Sect, forcing them to flee into a minor world and hide. For you to encounter them now suggests that this High Heaven fellow is getting ambitious again.”

“A single fragment made him enter the ranks of peak experts?” Yue Zifeng muttered, feeling doubtful.

Yue Zifeng then exchanged a look with Long Chen, who extended his hand and clenched it. His meaning was very clear—they would snatch the fragment away.

Seeing that, Feng Xinyue was speechless. She said, “The two of you are crazy. This High Heaven fellow is extremely cautious and crafty, and his power is undeniable. Anyone capable of surviving that era must be incredibly powerful to resist the erosion of time. Otherwise, they would have long since turned into a pile of bones. With your power, you want to take his treasure? Facing him recklessly would be suicidal..”

Patting Yue Zifeng’s shoulder, Long Chen said, “No rush. That fragment will be ours sooner or later. We should find a chance to join forces with Mo Nian. That guy always has tricks up his sleeve. I refuse to believe we can’t get it.”

Every fragment of the divine sword represented the Sword God’s legacy, and Yue Zifeng definitely could use it. But charging in now would be unwise.

Feng Xinyue’s lips curved into a mysterious smile, and she said, “There’s no need to act rashly. The fragment in his possession is indeed difficult to obtain, but I happen to know the whereabouts of another piece.”

Yue Zifeng’s heart pounded wildly at her words, his excitement barely contained.
